Lake Garancsi

The Hungarian film “Glass Tiger” was shot here in the summer of 2001. The food truck used in filming has since become a tourist sight as it was left on the lakeside.

The surface area of the lake was originally 4 hectares, the water began to recede in the mid-1980s and the mud has grown considerably thicker. The surface area of the lake began to decrease rapidly from the 1990s. The leaders and members of the association continually looked after and managed the lake. The water area currently fluctuates between 2 and 2.5 hectares; mud thickness has reached 1 meter in places. Rehabilitation began in 2009. Redevelopment of the lake began with funds won in tenders from Tinnye Local Government.
