Carved works of art

The Dragon Tree, miner and 56 headboard – several works of art by Gyula Tóth, a wood carver from Perbál, can also be seen in the settlement.

The special Dragon Tree stands in front of the village hall. The three-headed dragon is holding the coat of arms in its hands, its heads looking in the direction of the three entrances to the village in the form of protection.

We can see a wooden bust of famous Hungarian poet Attila József in front of the village hall built on the site of the former forest lodge. The poet’s well-known verse linked to Perbál is Altató (“Lullaby”), which he wrote to “Little Balázs”, who lived in the forest lodge in Perbál. There is a board commemorating this in the building.

The mining families and their descendants erected a headboard in memory of local miners, and praising the work of the master, at the edge of Fő utca (“Main Street”) and Táncsics utca.

Another headboard can be found opposite on Hősök tere (“Heroes Square”), which was erected to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1956 revolution and war of independence in 2006.

The latest work is the Story Telling Tree in front of the renovated kindergarten, which was created based on the children’s ideas in 2011.
