We have succeeded in combining the carefree community-building atmosphere of the old markets, the beauty of nature and recreational power, and the quality goods provided by small Hungarian farmers at a site recently renovated by Parkerdő (Park Forest).

The initiative promoting conscious consumption and foods of natural origin had already emerged at special locations (in office blocks, shopping malls and zoos); it was first organized on the edge of the forest on 7 June 2015, with great success. The Hidegvölgyi Erdészlak (Forest Lodge) between Budakeszi and Telki was chosen as the site for the Forest Market held monthly, on a Sunday.

The organizers brought the Forest Market to life with the goal of nature and forest loving hikers and the residents of Budakeszi and the environs becoming aware of the treasures of forest fields; they can buy products that are free of additives from small farmers and primary producers directly from the growers. The goal is for visitors to spend a cloudless day on an excursion in the open air and in the meantime to be enriched by culinary adventures. The trademark of the Hungarian Chamber of Agriculture is a guarantee that the artisanal cheeses, beers, jams, syrups, meat products, smoked goods, trout, grilled sausages, fruit, vegetables, and herbs and spices offered here really originate from first-rate, Hungarian sources.

The Forest Market – as a result of the special attributes of the location – offers much more than a traditional market: organizers do everything possible to ensure that the majority of visitors arriving with families and children can take part in a series of unforgettable programs. In addition to the culinary experience, anyone interested can find hammocks, sandpits and climbing walls, but there are also opportunities to cook, try out arts and crafts and grill some bacon at the site; tasty bacon can be acquired on site, directly from the producers.
