Zsámbék-Medence

The idea of building it was initiated by János Fojtik, Bia clergyman and altar emissary. The conversion was arranged by István Magdics, dean of the district and Etyek parish priest, and he was the man who blessed and consecrated the building on 18 September 1904. The chapel was offered as protection to the Immaculate Conception.

The building was owned by Paulina Metternich, who set up a foundation to maintain the shrine. The chapel was extended in 1929 due to the increasing number of believers.
The building was seriously damaged in the 2nd World War, Russian soldiers, for example, used it as a trough for horses. It was fixed up by the people living on the plain in 1948. Under the leadership of a teacher, István Szapóry, a new altar was made by the residents of Herceghalom and tradesmen from Bia on the model of the destroyed altar. The chapel restored with an exemplary level of care was decorated by Bia painter János Andresz in 1948, and then consecrated by diocesan bishop Lajos Shvoy on 1 November of the same year. Until 18 August 2002, when the new church was built, Roman Catholic holy mass services were held here on Sundays and public holidays, as well as Reformed and Evangelical religious services once or twice a month.
