Pál Csergezán Lookout Tower

The wooden Pál Csergezán lookout tower is barely noticeable from below, hidden behind the trees; walking along the hiking trail visitors will only notice it from close up.

Nevertheless, it is worth visiting because we can enjoy a breathtaking view from the top.

The Nagy Kopasz (“Great Bald”) hill lookout tower named after the famous landscape and hunting artist Pál Csergezán is located on the territory between the Budai hills in Budakeszi, Telki and Nagykovácsi.

The structure placed on concrete foundations is made from larch that is resistant to weather conditions. The lookout tower was covered in special wooden slats, which simultaneously allows for a clear view and access to the top without vertigo. The highest point is 18 meters, which we can reach by climbing 100 steps. However, the view that opens in front of us makes climbing the steps worthwhile because in clear weather we can see up to a distance of 100 kilometers from the Mátra mountains, through the Pilis hills and the Zsámbék Basin to the Velence hills, but the basilica in Esztergom can also be seen with the naked eye.

The lookout tower can be approached by walking along the green triangle trail for around two hours from Nagykovácsi or the Páty/Telki main road. You can get to Nagykovácsi on blue bus no. 63 and the long-distance bus leaving Széna-tér in Budapest arrives at the Erzsébet-tanya (Elizabeth farm) stop on the Telki road.
