Scots Benedictine Monastery
Scottish monks moved to Budajenő in the first half of the 1700s, and immediately began large-scale renovation and expansion of the monastery.
Another floor was added to the single-story building designed on a Baroque model in the mid-1800s; this was when the monastery took on the moderately Classicist style of the age, as still known today.
The building has operated as a school since post-war nationalization, with teaching presently carried out in ten classrooms. After the Royal Palace in Gödöllő the monastic school is cited as the second most valuable monument in Pest County.
During fundamental research, restorers came across special wall paintings in six rooms, which have now been covered up again until they can be revealed in full.
