The Research Institute for Animal Breeding and Nutrition (ÁTK) is one of Herceghalom’s outstanding architectural assets.
Construction began in 1954 and lasted over one and a half decades(!). Eventually it was handed over for operation to Director János Keserű in 1970. The main task of the institute is the scientific examination of animal utilization and breeding. Several research systems have been developed here, which have achieved nationwide significance.
The park was designed in the 70s – and became an asset in need of protection due to its stock of valuable ornamental plants and statues.

The palace was built in 1825 based on the designs of the owner’s wife, Mária Splényné Szily.
